The Gherardini brand boasts a great history, the history of many, many years of activity; the very expression of renowned Florentine craftsmanship and artisan skill. That is why Gherardini rightfully deserves acknowledgment as an illustrious member of Made in Italy. Gherardini family members ran the company until 1990, giving it a unique finger-print in style and workmanship. They were able to create and regenerate, constantly re-searching and providing a response to the new needs of the customers, experimenting with new techniques and materials, or implementing the most revered traditions, for an ever more customized product. Tradition, craftsmanship and Made in Italy are still the distinguishing features of the company.
Garibaldo Gherardini opens his first artisan workshop specialized in the production of pencil cases in Florence.
The following are successfully introduced: envelopes, clutch bags with jewel closures, the use of brocades, satins, pleated leathers, for a refined luxury.
Garibaldo opens the first shop, in Via della Vigna Nuova in Florence.
The second Gherardini generation contributes to the expansion and success of the house.
Made in Italy takes off and leather goods production resumes on a large scale in the shop in Via della Vigna Nuova.
The current brand is born.
Thanks to the success of the Gherardini style, a new headquarters is built in via di Casellina in Scandicci (just outside Florence).
The first collection of leather garments for women parades in the “white room” of Palazzo Pitti.
Dawn of the Total Look: the Florentine house extends its production to clothing, glasses and scarves.
Creation of the “GHE” cotton fabric, with the collaboration of Gommatex Spa.
The innovative material capable of reducing the weight of the bag, will become “Ghe Softy” two years later with the replacement of cotton with Nylon.
Pitti Donna is born and Gherardini parades with his shirtdresses and leather-trimmed
